Cycling the Ticino
From the lake's mouth, along the river
Right where Lake Maggiore becomes a river, at the bridge between Sesto Calende and Castelletto, one of the loveliest cycle paths around begins: it follows the Ticino southward, nearly all flat and shaded by trees, between wooded banks full of birds.

It's perfect even if you're not a trained cyclist: you ride safe from traffic and decide how far to go. If you tire, from Sesto Calende station you can head back easily by train with your bike.
